Those of Us who Live on the Edges

16"x4"x5"

"Flip, flop
slight of hand
those of us
who live on the edges
desperately need
magic."

I made this piece and wrote this poem for my mother, who used to tell me that I, "live on the edges." It contains her favorite tea cup, a photo of her taken by my daughter (Lisa Derr), a frame painted by my granddaughter (Eliana Derr), and origami money made by my brother (Adam Duhan). The piece was in a show on Broadway in Oakland. My mother would have been very amused, being in a Broadway show. Judith Kate Friedman wrote an original “show tune” for the opening.
